This past weekend the Kearney Matcats took 28 wrestlers to the NEUSA State Wrestling Tournament held in Grand Island. They finished in 11th place out of 226 teams and 5th out of teams with less than 30 wrestlers. The Matcats finished with 14 State Medalists.

This past Sunday the Kearney Matcats qualified 30 wrestlers for the Nebraska USA State Wrestling Tournament. They finished in 3rd place as a teams scoring 322.5 points at the NEUSA District 2 Tournament. The Matcats had 7 District Champions, 10 Runner-Ups, 9 third Place Finishes and 4 fourth place finishes. The NEUSA State Tournament will be held in Grand Island March 18th & 19th.

The Matcat Dual Team had a sucessful weekend at the UNK Midwest Duals held Saturday January 14th at UNK. The Matcats had five duals on the day going 4-1 and placing 2nd. In the first round they defeated Team Agoge 56-30. They followed up that dual with a 51-31 win over Ogallala, a 40-33 win over Columbus, and a 66-18 win over Central Nebraska Gold. This placed them in the finals where they fell to 2 Tuff 64-15.
